London can rightly claim to be the capital of the publishing world. It is UK home to most of the large international publishing corporations and is a constantly changing breeding ground for new, independent and dynamic publishing houses. London claims its leading position for good historic reasons. London publishing has a long established record, in some cases going back into the 19th century, of founding local branches of their offices in many parts of the world. As a result, London has an unrivalled position in international publishing.
Having London as the base of the MA in Book Publishing means that our links with publishing are exceptionally active. London's prime place in international publishing is also reflected in the student intake, with roughly 60 per cent of students on the course, on average, coming from outside the UK.
