Master's in Publishing at the University of the Arts London

Group Projects

Participating in group projects forms an important part of learning. All students on the MA Publishing course at LCC get a chance to work in teams during Phase 2 to advance their understanding of the complexity of publishing operations with the Publishing Management learning unit. Each student has the opportunity of applying the principles of management and project management from the theoretical learning delivered in lectures and from the talks given by our respected industry guest speakers.

Working in multi-disciplinary teams, the students are tasked to complete a small scale project. Projects can range from the production of an event such as the MA Publishing Conference (see http://www.publishinginnovation.com) or a magazine such as the MA Blurb Magazine, or teams undertake other print or digital media production project.

Each team has the opportunity to use the advanced printing and digital production resources within the School of Printing and Publishing to actually realise the outcomes of their projects. These can range across marketing materials, blads, publications, media releases, conference and event staging, posters, flyers, and actual publishing products such as small books, calendars, magazines or Internet publishing products.

For the assessment of the Publishing Management unit each team makes a group presentation and each member submits an individual report which critiques the project from strategic and tactical qualitative approaches taken in the organisation and project management of the project.
